This is the 116th year of the Richwood Independent Fair. The Richwood Fair is just one of three independent fairs left in the State of Ohio. The fair is independent in that it is not funded by the State of Ohio and is a local fair and not a county fair. Located in the village of Richwood on Gill Street, it is one of the nicest fairs in the state. A board of 18 members who volunteer many hours of service runs the fair. This year's board members are President and director Todd Hamilton, Vice-president and director Scott McNamee, Secretary Lynne Ledley (Non-director), Treasurer and director Barbara Sullivan, Brad Besst, Dwight Brill, Ben Bumgarner, Danny Cameron, Richard Gillenwater, Jim Gray, Phyllis Griffith, Jeff Hoffman, Richard Kirby, Bob Nauman, Brian Nauman, John Oates, Lawrence Riffle, Bruce Spurlock and Randy Sullivan.
Tickets for the fair can be purchased from any board member or at local businesses in Richwood. This year's season tickets cost $18.00. This is good for admittance to the fair all week. Rides tickets are not included with season passes.
Daily general admission tickets at the gate are $6.00 per person which includes a ride ticket for children ages 3 and up.
Ride tickets for those who purchase season passes, exhibitor passes, or have junior fair exhibitor passes will be $4.00/day.
Hours of operations are from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Rides operate from noon until 10:00 p.m.
Camper permits are $100.00 for the week. (Camper sites are limited.)
If you would like to be a member of the Richwood Agricultural Society, which gives you the privilege of voting for board members, you must be a resident of Union County and purchase a membership ticket for $1.00.
If you would like to be an exhibitor at the fair, you would want to obtain a fair paper which has the categories and entry fees along with rules and regulations for participating. For a fair paper call 740-943-2200.
For information about the fair, you may call 740-943-2200 or email at richwoodfair@bright.net.
The members of the fair board take pride in their fair and work hard to make the fair all about children, families, and fun. Please come and see it for yourself.
See you at the fair!
